(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On the morning of February 10, the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Cho Moi District organized the “Tree Planting Festival in Memory of President Ho Chi Minh” and the planting of trees to prevent erosion along the canals and dikes of Cho Moi District in 2025 at Long Dien A Commune.

Also in attendance were Nguyen Thi Minh Kieu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Cho Moi District; Huynh Thi Nguyet Hong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairwoman of the People's Council of Cho Moi District; Cu Minh Trong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Cho Moi District; and over 150 delegates.
In his speech, Vice Chairman Le Tran Minh Hieu emphasized that from 2021 to the present, Cho Moi District has planted 117,700 scattered trees. Erosion has been a frequent issue, and as of now, there are still 150 sections of eroded land needing reinforcement, with a total length of 6,893 meters and an estimated cost of about 158.6 billion VND. Thus, tree planting is a highly meaningful activity, especially in the face of global climate change, extreme weather, storms, floods, and erosion. Moreover, tree planting plays a crucial role in creating green spaces, which is essential in the context of environmental pollution and climate change that severely impacts people's lives. He urged Party organizations, governments, agencies, mass organizations, and political-social organizations to widely disseminate the objectives and significance of the tree planting festival, as well as the vast, long-term benefits and humanitarian values of planting trees.

Following the launch, delegates planted 2,500 trees (100 Pink Trumpet trees and 2,400 Australian Pine trees) along a 500-meter section of dike at the Don Dong Open Drain, southern bank of the Quan Ben Canal, Long Thuan 2 Hamlet, Long Dien A Commune.
Subsequently, all communes and towns within the district will organize tree planting and care activities along dike systems, main roads, and encourage organizations, individuals, and the public to participate in creating green spaces and protecting the foundation of the dikes and roads. Special attention will be given to sections and routes experiencing erosion, based on local conditions, ensuring effective and sustainable results, with regular maintenance and care for the trees planted.
