(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On the afternoon of March 3, Le Hong Quang, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee, chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee for the implementation of the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in An Giang Province. The meeting aimed to assess the progress of implementation and outline key tasks for the coming period.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Le Van Nung, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of An Giang Province; Ho Van Mung, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang Province; along with members of the Steering Committee, leaders of various provincial departments, agencies, and localities.
According to the People's Committee of An Giang Province, under the guidelines of Decision No. 55/QD-BXD issued on January 20, 2025, by the Ministry of Construction, a total of 3,335 households across An Giang Province qualify for housing construction and renovation under the program. As of now, the province has mobilized a total funding of 139 billion VND for the initiative. Construction has commenced on 773 houses, with 360 already completed and put into use. Long Xuyen City and Chau Doc City aim to complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses within the first quarter of 2025, while Thoai Son District targets completion by May 19, 2025. Tan Chau Town and Tri Ton District plan to finish in the second quarter of 2025, with the remaining localities set to complete the process in the third quarter of 2025.
Speaking at the meeting, Secretary Le Hong Quang commended the members of the Steering Committee and local leaders for their proactive, dedicated, and responsible efforts in decisively implementing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. He emphasized that the joint effort to eradicate such housing is a major policy of the Party and State, embodying the humanitarian values of the Vietnamese people by providing homes for the underprivileged and ensuring that no one is left behind.
The Secretary urged all members of the Steering Committee and local authorities to continue to rigorously and effectively implement central and provincial directives on the housing elimination program. He instructed that allocated funds be disbursed promptly and efficiently, ensuring they reach the intended beneficiaries without waste, corruption, or misconduct. Any violations must be strictly dealt with according to the law. The goal is to complete the initiative substantially by June 2025 and fully conclude it by September 2025, with Long Xuyen City and Chau Doc City finishing within the first quarter of 2025.
Additionally, he called for regular inspections and supervision to ensure that the housing support policies are implemented according to the planned timeline. Monthly progress reports should be submitted to the Steering Committee, and any arising difficulties must be promptly addressed. If issues exceed local authority jurisdiction, they should be escalated to the Steering Committee and the Provincial Party Standing Committee for guidance.
Secretary Le Hong Quang also emphasized the importance of recognizing and rewarding outstanding efforts in the implementation of the program. Successful models, innovative approaches, and exemplary individuals contributing to the housing initiative should be highlighted and promoted.
