During the past term, the Provincial Association for the Support of the People with Disabilities, Orphans and Poor Patients has called for and mobilized more than VND 461 billion to support and help millions of people. Specifically, regular subsidies in cash or food for more than 281,000 disabled people and orphans  amounted to nearly VND 60 billion; emergency relief for more than 395,000 people with an amount of nearly VND 93 billion; free medical examination and medicine for more than 251,000 people with an amount of more than VND 13 billion; assistance for more than 160,000 poor patients and poor students  with an amount of more than VND 56 billion. In addition, the Provincial Association and the district, town and city associations mobilized the organization of giving Tet gifts and gifts on the occasion of  International Children's Day and Mid-Autumn Festival... In addition, the Provincial Association and the district, town and city associations effectively implemented the key programs set forth by the Central Association, such as: Mobilizing eye surgery to install cataracts for the poor; donating wheelchairs and rocking chairs to the disabled, donating bicycles to poor students... Accordingly, the tasks of the term (2024 - 2029) of An Giang Provincial Association will focus on implementing 6 Central Association’s work programs, specifically: Eye surgery to install cataracts for the poor blind; finding sources to perform orthopedic surgery to restore motor function for children with paralysis and congenital heart surgery; striving to solve vocational training and employment for those with conditions and aspirations; implementing livelihood programs associated with new rural construction.

The Congress voted to elect 36 delegates to the new Executive Committee. Mr. Truong Minh Thuan, former Director of the Provincial Department of Information and Communications, was elected as the 7th Chairman of the Association for the Support of the People with Disabilities, Poor Patients and Protection of Children's Rights of An Giang Province for the term (2024 - 2029).

On behalf of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ngo Cong Thuc commended the efforts and meaningful results that the Association for the Support of People with Disabilities, Orphans and Poor Patients of the province achieved in the past term. At the same time, he proposed to continue to consolidate and expand the grassroots organizations of the Association, better grasp the subjects in need of help; have more forms of advocacy and support more effectively in its activities; better coordinate with media agencies to promptly propagate and inform about the practical activities of the Association. In particular, it is necessary to commend the typical examples of philanthropists and charitable organizations inside and outside the province to create more spread and support from the community and society, contributing to improving the effectiveness of socialization of activities to care for people with disabilities, orphans, poor patients, etc.

On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association for the Support of the People with Disabilities, Orphans and Poor Patients and the People's Committee of An Giang province awarded Medals and Certificates of Merit to many collectives and individuals who have made outstanding achievements in the cause of protecting the disabled, orphans in Vietnam and in the activities of the Association for the Support of the People with Disabilities, Orphans and Poor Patients for the 2018-2023 term./.
