A typical example is Dr. Huynh Nam Hai - Head of the Department of Surgery - Anesthesia and Resuscitation, Kien Giang General Hospital, who has good medical ethics, professional skills, communication and behavior. As the head of the department, Dr. Hai leads the department to always complete its tasks excellently, exceed targets, without professional mistakes, and achieve higher results year after year.

Dr. Hai shared: “In 2021, I successfully anesthetized 815 cases, and in 2024, I successfully anesthetized 1,425 cases, an increase of 74.85%. The number of patients examined for pre-anesthesia in 2021 was 1,056 cases, in 2024 was 1,502 cases, an increase of 42.23%. The rate of patients successfully treated in 2021 was 1,245 cases, in 2024 was 1,555 cases, an increase of 24.9%.”

Notably, he made a significant contribution to the success of the 'Open-heart Surgery' program, which was implemented through technical transfer from Cho Ray Hospital and improved the quality of life for 38 underprivileged patients. He consistently worked alongside doctors to ensure proper procedures and techniques in anesthesia and patient resuscitation, helping to reduce the mortality rate.

Affirming the role of a provincial hospital in the border area, contributing to improving the quality of health care for the people, Dr. Nguyen Van Hung - Director of Chau Doc General Hospital shared: "The hospital has received 29 technical transfers, developed many new techniques in cardiovascular intervention, stroke, advanced endoscopic surgery, artificial kidney with dual RO system, ensuring patient safety, developing provincial expertise, limiting hospital transfers, reducing treatment costs for patients. Every year, we participate in 10 charity medical examinations, for more than 2,500 patients, with a total cost of more than VND 500 million".

As a grade I, specialized hospital of the province, Dr. Nguyen Duy Tan - Director of An Giang General Hospital said that the unit has well implemented advanced technology in medical examination and treatment. Up to now, more than 8,400 diagnostic and treatment techniques at the hospital have been approved by the Department of Health, serving well the health care and treatment of people in the province and neighboring areas. The hospital focuses on perfecting 4 core values such as: High quality human resources; modern equipment; applying advanced, specialized technology in medical examination and treatment and dedication, love for the profession, responsibility, and devotion to the health of patients.

At An Giang Cardiovascular Hospital, nearly 1,000 pacemaker implantations have been performed, with a 100% success rate, helping patients maintain a stable heart rate, improve their quality of life and reduce the risk of sudden death. Dr. Mai Pham Trung Hieu - Deputy Director of An Giang Cardiovascular Hospital shared: "The hospital has successfully performed more than 200 electrophysiological cautery procedures, with a success rate of over 95%, giving patients the opportunity to live a healthy life. More than 2,000 coronary interventions have been successfully performed, helping patients avoid dangerous complications of myocardial infarction and prolong their lives. According to Dr. Tran Quang Hien - Director of the Department of Health, implementing the patriotic emulation movement, over the past 5 years, the provincial health sector has been honored by the President with noble titles for 2 people's physicians and 39 excellent physicians; 1 collective received the Government's Emulation Flag; 3 collectives and 34 individuals received certificates of merit from the Prime Minister; 38 collectives received provincial-level emulation flags; 489 collectives and 4,465 individuals received certificates of merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy acknowledged: “In recent years, the An Giang health sector has achieved many proud achievements; effectively implemented disease prevention and control work, especially the COVID-19 pandemic. Medical facilities from the provincial to grassroots levels have constantly improved service quality, ensuring good medical examination, treatment and health care for people.

Preventive medicine, health education and propaganda work, and expanded immunization programs have achieved results, contributing significantly to improving the quality of life of An Giang people. The emulation movements "Healthcare workers follow Uncle Ho's teachings" and "Patriotic emulation" have been strongly implemented, creating motivation for each health care worker to work more dedicatedly and responsibly.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy said that the great and significant contributions of the province's health sector, together with the health sector of the whole country, have raised the position of Vietnamese medicine in the world, worthy of the province's general socio-economic development in the renovation period.
