April 21 of each year is chosen by the United Nations (UN) as the World Creativity and Innovation Day (WCID) to raise awareness of the creativity and innovation role in socio-economic development, building a sustainable society and promoting all aspects of human development.

In response to the WCID and promoting the combined strength of the entire political system, the active participation of enterprises, research institutes, universities and people in promoting innovation activities to serve socio-economic development, ensure national defense and security, improve people's quality of life, and perform assigned functions and tasks, the Department of Science and Technology requests agencies and units, according to their functions and tasks, to organize activities in response to the WCID in appropriate forms to disseminate information to cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers, people, students, organizations and individuals within their management scope about the WCID.

The themes chosen for the event in response to the the WCID 2025 are: "Innovation - Think differently, Do differently for better"; "Innovation - Pioneering enterprises - Prosperous nation"; "Innovation for all people - Comprehensive digital transformation - For a better life". 

The contents that need to be deployed to respond include: Propagating and disseminating the purpose and meaning of the the WCID; Disseminating and thoroughly understanding throughout society the Party and State's breakthrough guidelines and policies on science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation; the spirit of "Clause 10" of Resolution 57-NQ/TW; new methods in managing science and technology and innovation activities (management by objectives, granting autonomy and responsibility to workers; accepting risks; evaluating based on efficiency, etc.); new approaches to science and technology, innovation and digital transformation (digital transformation creates a good environment for innovation; innovation creates demand for technological development; technological development poses problems in scientific research and basic research; science and technology become the driving force of the economy - innovation is the main driver of growth - digital transformation is a strategic tool to enhance national innovation capacity...); key tasks and strategies that need to be implemented to make breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation in the new period.

The time to organize the activities starts from April 15 - 26, 2025. Thereby, it is possible to coordinate and connect with activities to celebrate World Intellectual Property Day on April 26; Vietnam Science and Technology Day on May 18.

Through the response to the the WCID 2025 to promote and popularize in the community and the whole society to join hands to promote innovation activities; create a culture of innovation in the whole society; raise awareness on the role of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation in sustainable socio-economic development; promote the development of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation, so that science and technology become the driving force of the economy; promote the development of the national innovation system, strengthen the connection between the enterprise sector - state - institutes/schools - startups - investors - community with the role of digital platforms connecting technology supply - demand, experts - ideas./.
