At the conference, Mr. Ho Van Mung, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee, stated that the province recorded double-digit economic growth in the second quarter. This strong performance contributed to an 8.83% growth rate in the first six months of the year, securing the leading position in the Mekong Delta region.
Mr. Ho Van Mung, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged and commended the efforts of agencies, units, and localities in strictly implementing the adjusted growth plan following the end of the first quarter.

Concurrently, local authorities are maintaining a laser focus on ensuring the timely completion of key projects and infrastructure serving the 2027 APEC Summit. Site clearance efforts have yielded highly positive outcomes, reaching an average completion rate of 95% - with multiple projects fully cleared - paving the way for immediate construction. 

Furthermore, all 102 communes, wards, and special zones have rigorously implemented the Provincial Party Committee's resolutions as well as the Provincial People's Committee's socio-economic plans and programs, delivering concrete results across various key performance indicators.

According to Mr. Ho Van Mung, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, after one year of implementing the two-tiered local government system, the apparatus operates smoothly and efficiently; basically meeting the tasks of management and administration at the local level, and paying attention to resolving issues related to people's lives.
In the last six months of 2026, Mr. Ho Van Mung, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested departments, agencies, and localities to effectively implement the conclusions of the General Secretary and President; and the resolutions of the Government and the Provincial Party Committee on socio-economic development in 2026.

Each sector and locality must review the tasks and solutions of their respective fields to strive to complete and exceed assigned targets; continue to implement effectively, produce tangible results, and make concrete contributions to socio-economic growth and development, and improve the quality of life for the people.

Continue to improve the efficiency of online public services; accelerate the issuance of identity cards for children under 14 years old, identify business organizations, and complete the land database.

Regarding tasks serving APEC 2027, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Ho Van Mung, requested continued monitoring of progress, and the Phu Quoc Special Zone should continue to expedite land clearance. Proactively implement resolutions on special mechanisms and policies of the National Assembly and the Government immediately after their promulgation.

Regarding economic growth targets, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Finance to coordinate with the Provincial Statistics Department and relevant sectors to advise on the issuance of a plan to adjust the growth scenario for the third quarter and the last six months of 2026.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized maintaining the growth target of 10.71% for 2026. To achieve this target, An Giang province needs to link it with the requirement of shifting the economic structure, reducing the proportion of Sector 1 (Agriculture, forestry and fisheries) to below 30%, and promoting Sector 3 (Services) and Sector 2 (Industry and Construction).

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has ordered local departments, agencies, and authorities to expedite the implementation of licensed investment projects. Key priorities include accelerating high-tech agriculture, wind and solar energy, and land reclamation projects. Local authorities must also urgently advise on urban development programs and upgrade schemes, resolve issues regarding redundant public housing and land, and finalize local master plans.

Additionally, the province aims to boost the transition rate of students from primary to lower secondary school, while enhancing career counseling and job placement for residents. Social security and order will be tightened, with a strong focus on combating drug crimes to ensure 100% of communes, wards, and special zones are drug-free by 2030.

The socio-economic situation in the province during the first six months of the year remained stable in many sectors and fields. Agricultural, forestry, and fisheries production is expected to exceed the target.

An Giang province's GRDP growth in the first six months of 2026 is estimated at 8.83% (ranking first in the Mekong Delta region and 16th out of 34 provinces and cities nationwide). Specifically: Sector I (Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries) reached 3.62%; Sector II (Industry and Construction) reached 16.80%; and Sector III (Services) reached 9.45%.

Total local budget revenue in the first six months of 2026 was 30,927 billion VND, reaching 51.8% of the projected amount. Total local budget expenditure in the first six months of 2026 was 23,168 billion VND, reaching 38.7% of the projected amount.

Industrial production continued its positive growth momentum with the Industrial Production Index (IIP) estimated to increase by 14.03% year-on-year, closely following the set growth scenario. Trade and service activities continued to maintain positive growth, with total retail sales of goods and service revenue increasing by 24.83% year-on-year; exports increased by 13.86% and imports increased by 18.33% year-on-year.

Tourism recorded strong growth thanks to a series of cultural, sports, and tourism events celebrating the Lunar New Year 2026, the April 30th holiday, and International Labor Day on May 1st, attracting a large number of domestic and international tourists to visit and experience the area. The number of tourists increased by 17.1%; total tourism revenue is estimated at VND 39,283 billion, an increase of 34.4% year-on-year.

The province has actively stepped up efforts to attract investment and resolve challenges faced by enterprises and investors. Concurrently, state management of natural resources, environmental protection, and climate change adaptation continues to be strengthened, alongside regular reviews of material mine capacities to ensure a steady supply for key projects.

Education, healthcare, and social welfare continued to receive strong attention. National defense and political security remained stable, while social order and safety were firmly maintained. Furthermore, foreign relations were sustained, and significant progress was achieved in government-building and administrative reform.
