(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On the morning of 04/12, Mr. Le Van Phuoc, Vice Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People’s Committee, chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee for the 2021–2025 National Target Programs to review results from the first 11 months and set tasks and solutions through the end of 2025.

The province is implementing three National Target Programs in 2021–2025: the Program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas; the New Rural Development Program; and the Sustainable Poverty Reduction Program.
For the Program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, the province met or exceeded 18 of 21 specific targets; 1 target fell short of plan and 2 targets were not implemented.
After administrative re-arrangement, the province has 102 communes, wards, and special zones. As of November 2025, 69 communes meet new-rural standards, 9 are advanced new-rural communes, and 1 is a model new-rural commune.
A review shows 12,736 poor households provincewide (1.27%) and 24,687 near-poor households (2.46%). Poor households among ethnic minorities total 2,869 (2.9%).
In implementing the three programs, the province has disbursed over VND 266 billion to date, achieving 50.28% of the plan; disbursement of recurrent (non-investment) funds has reached 19.18% of the allocated plan. Handovers and takeovers at the commune level are generally underway, with many communes promptly receiving works from communes/districts prior to consolidation. Some implementation difficulties remain.
Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman Le Van Phuoc commended departments and localities for actively removing obstacles and achieving important results compared with the previous review.
For the remainder of 2025, he directed departments and localities to focus and strive to achieve the highest possible completion rates, with completion required by 09/12/2025; units must promptly identify and resolve difficulties, adhere to assigned plans, and report regularly to the Steering Committee...
For 2026, Vice Chairman Le Van Phuoc requested departments and localities to proactively propose and advise on feasible capital allocations aligned with planning./.
