(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On the afternoon of January 9th, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to summarize the work of 2025 and to implement the targets and tasks for 2026, using a hybrid format combining in-person and online participation.
Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Tien Hai attended and directed the conference. Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung, along with the Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee, presided over the conference.
Attending the conference were: Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Thanh Nhan; and Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province Tran Thi Thanh Huong.
Economic growth ranks highest in the Mekong Delta.
According to a report by the People's Committee of An Giang province, socio-economic development in 2025 is expected to be positive, with many sectors and fields experiencing high growth compared to the same period last year. According to the General Statistics Office, An Giang province's economic growth in 2025 is projected at 8.39%, ranking first in the Mekong Delta and 14th out of 34 provinces and cities nationwide.
By December 31, 2025, state budget revenue in the province reached VND 25,713 billion, achieving 113.3% of the central government's projected target and 102.24% of the provincial People's Council's projected target. Estimated local budget expenditure by January 31, 2026 is VND 53,169 billion, an increase of VND 3,706 billion compared to the initial projected target.
By 2025, it is estimated that 24 out of 26 targets set by the Provincial People's Council Resolution will be achieved or exceeded, including 11 targets exceeded and 13 targets met.
Overall, the economic structure continues to shift in the right direction; agriculture continues to maintain its role as the center of food production and a key raw material source for the Mekong Delta and the whole country. The fishing, aquaculture, and livestock sectors are developing steadily, gradually forming large-scale, modern farming and processing models and projects. Key transportation projects are progressing rapidly, notably the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway project, which is ahead of schedule; and efforts are focused on securing the necessary materials for these key transportation projects.
Trade and service activities ensure the supply of essential goods and services, promptly meeting the production and consumption needs of the people. Tourism is clearly thriving, with a high increase in visitor numbers, and many diverse and attractive tourism promotion and marketing activities are being organized. Preparations for the APEC 2027 Conference are being urgently implemented, basically ensuring progress according to the plan.
Rapid and sustainable development, elevating our position in 2026.
Building on the achievements of the past year, in 2026, An Giang strives for rapid and sustainable development in all fields, making the province a new driving force in the Mekong Delta region. Identifying socio-economic development as the central task, cultural development as the spiritual foundation of society, and ensuring national defense and security as a crucial and ongoing task, the province will focus on implementing projects and plans serving the APEC Summit on schedule and with high quality.
An Giang province has set the following targets for 2026: Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices exceeding VND 335,000 billion; GRDP growth rate at constant prices of 10.71% or higher; GRDP per capita reaching US$3,600; total state budget revenue reaching VND 32,362 billion; total social investment reaching VND 113,500 billion, along with many other important indicators in the social and environmental fields.

Delivering a keynote address at the Conference, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Tien Hai acknowledged, commended, and highly appreciated the efforts and responsibilities of the Provincial People's Committee, its leaders and members; departments, agencies, units, localities, and all cadres, party members, civil servants, employees, and the people of the province over the past year.
Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Tien Hai emphasized that Party committees, governments at all levels, leaders, and all cadres and Party members must uphold a high sense of responsibility; actively and proactively implement tasks from the beginning of the year; innovate thinking, be dynamic and creative, dare to think, dare to act, and dare to take responsibility for the common good; proactively overcome all difficulties to excellently complete the tasks of 2026, exceeding the planned targets.

At the same time, we should focus on implementing a smooth and effective two-tiered local government system; and accelerate and make breakthroughs to achieve the growth targets assigned by the Politburo and the Government; Gradually build a team of officials capable of fulfilling their tasks and meeting the province's development requirements in the coming period.
Regarding the goal of achieving double-digit economic growth, the Provincial Party Secretary requested the effective implementation of the Provincial Party Committee's Action Program No. 09, which implements the Central Committee's Conclusion No. 199 on socio-economic development for 2025-2026. He called for the synchronized implementation of tasks and solutions to accelerate the transformation of the economic structure into a modern one, promote rapid economic development, and strive for a growth rate of 10.71% or higher, with particular emphasis on solutions related to mechanisms, policies, science, technology, and human resources.
