(AG Provincial E-Portal) - The Chau Doc City People's Committee convened on June 18 to execute the organization of the "Thoai Ngoc Hau Tan Lo Kieu Luong Economy" street festival. The meeting was presided over by Mr Tran Quoc Tuan, Standing Vice Chairman of the Chau Doc City People's Committee, and Mr Truong Ba Trang, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of An Giang Province.
The street festival "Thoai Ngoc Hau economic Tan Lo Kieu Luong" is divided into three sections, as per the plan: Part I: Declaration of the "Tan Lo Kieu Luong" economic order; Part II: Economic violations of the "Tan Lo Kieu Luong"; and Part III: Declaration of the opening of the "Tan Lo Kieu Luong" festival. On July 6, 2024, the festival is scheduled to occur (which is on June 1 of the Lunar Calendar). Chau Phu Communal House serves as the commencing point for the journey to Thoai Ngoc Hau Mausoleum via the Tan Lo Kieu Luong route.
In the past, the Kieu Luong Road route has constructed four plank bridges to facilitate the flow of water. This is due to the fact that the land from Sam Mountain to Chau Doc Fort is low-lying, with numerous deep swamps and low-lying water. The bridge's construction is both convenient for the passage of people, horses, buffaloes, and cows, as well as for the preservation of the circulation of water and the favorable land for agricultural cultivation in this country.
In accordance with historical facts, the festival will establish four visual cheering points that resemble the four plank bridges. These points will extend from Chau Doc to Sam Mountain and will be achieved through the use of contemporary technology in conjunction with visual propaganda.
The festival "Thoai Ngoc Hau economic Tan Lo Kieu Luong" is designed to partially relive the memory of the borderland, which was a sacred forest and contains poisonous water. However, thanks to the ingenuity, human heart, and diligent work of many generations of predecessors, from the time of reclaiming land, establishing hamlets, and paving the way, they knew how to follow the weather and create great miracles left for future generations.
From ancient times to the present, the Kieu Luong Road embankment project has significantly improved the economy, politics, culture, society, transportation, security, and defence of the Chau Doc region. The main highway from the center of Chau Doc City to Sam Mountain is now known as "Tan Lo Kieu Luong." This road is one of the widest and most beautiful in Chau Doc and is the focal point of a traffic project that is of significant historical and cultural importance. It is also a source of pride for the residents of Chau Doc City, the hometown of An Giang.
