01/07/2024 |

(AG Provincial E-Portal) - The Police Department of Administrative Management of Social Order, as well as the Police of 11 districts, towns, and cities throughout the province, issued ID cards to individuals simultaneously on the morning of July 1.

Consequently, individuals are issued Identification cards rather than Citizen Identification cards, and Certificates of Identification are issued to individuals of Vietnamese descent whose nationality has not yet been determined. The implementation work in certain localities in the province was also inspected by the Provincial Police Board of Directors.

The implementation work in Phu Tan district was inspected by Colonel Lam Phuoc Nguyen, director of the Provincial Police and secretary of the Party Committee.

The 2023 Identity Law, which includes numerous new provisions, will be in effect as of July 1.  It is important to note that the Identity Law broadens the eligibility criteria for ID cards to include individuals under the age of 14. Two distinct types of identification cards will be issued to individuals aged six years and younger and those aged six years and older. In particular, portrait photos are not permitted on cards intended for individuals under the age of six.

The new Identification Card offers a multitude of benefits and is highly secure. The identification card's electronic chip contains technology that will accurately authenticate the cardholder by matching fingerprints or faces. The regulations governing the issuance of identification cards for individuals under the age of 14 are also significant, as they contribute to the protection of the legitimate rights and interests of citizens and the promotion of the value and utility of identity cards in the activities of the Digital Government and digital society.

Colonel Tran Van Cung, the Deputy Director of the Provincial Police, conducted an inspection of the implementation operation in Chau Doc City

It is known that in order to effectively implement the Identification Law, the Board of Directors of An Giang Provincial Police has directed the entire Provincial Police force to focus on drastically, synchronously, and effectively implementing key work tasks. Among them: The Law on Identification was simultaneously implemented by police units and localities; the Law on Identification's provisions and the documents that guide its implementation were reinforced through extensive propaganda among officers, soldiers, and the general public; the Identity Law's new features, iris biometrics, and the superiority of the Identity Law were also highlighted.  The Police Department is responsible for the administrative management of social order and the police of districts, towns, and cities in the province. It focuses the maximum number of forces and resources, assigning specific responsibilities to each officer and soldier. Additionally, it conducts regular inspections, encourages, and guides the implementation of the law, and organizes the issuance of Identity Cards and Identification Certificates in accordance with regulations.

People in the localities expressed their support and agreement with the implementation of the Identity Law and ID issuance procedures, which were overseen by diligent officers and soldiers. The Provincial Police will continue to disseminate propaganda regarding the new aspects of the Identification Law, iris biometrics, and the superiority of the Identification Law in the future, employing a variety of methods.
