(AG Provincial E-Portal) - Mr. Le Hong Quang, Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee and Member of the Party Central Committee, led a provincial delegation to survey and inspect the preparations for the inauguration ceremony of the investment project to construct a connecting line between Highway 91 and Long Xuyen city bypass on the afternoon of June 6. The delegation arrived to evaluate the current status of the construction of the route that connects National Highway 91 and the Long Xuyen city bypass. The project spans 15.3 kilometers and has a total investment of over 2,100 billion VND, which is comprised of loans from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and a portion of counterpart capital from the Government of Vietnam.

The project has been largely completed to date, with the close attention and guidance of the Government, leaders of the Ministry of Transport, particularly those of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Committee of An Giang province, departments, and branches of the province and Long Xuyen city, particularly in the public sector. Site clearance and support for construction materials have been provided. My Thuan Project Management Board (the project investor) has authorized temporary exploitation as a result of landslides on Highway 80 (Can Tho city), in accordance with an agreement with the An Giang Department of Transport. On May 31, 2024, the Long Xuyen bypass was operational, enabling vehicles to travel from An Giang to the Vam Cong bridge (Can Tho city) and vice versa.

Mr. Le Hong Quang, Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee, has requested that the Department of Transport recommend that the project investor promptly install guardrails and lights to ensure the safety of vehicles, particularly during the night. The soft soil and slope embankment necessitate a solution to reinforce both sides of the slope to safeguard the road from landslides, particularly during the rainy season, thereby ensuring the project's durability and quality.

The Provincial People's Committee worked in close collaboration with the My Thuan Project Management Board (project investor) and Traffic Newspaper to ensure that the project's inauguration ceremony was completed successfully, solemnly, and meaningfully. The project is significant and will bring great joy to the people of Long Xuyen city and An Giang province. It will also contribute to the reduction of traffic pressure through the center of Long Xuyen city and is a piece of land. An important connection in the traffic map that connects An Giang with the Mekong Delta.  Specifically, the construction of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway, in conjunction with the Long Xuyen city bypass, will serve as a significant catalyst for the socio-economic advancement of An Giang province.
