(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On the morning of March 10, An Giang Province People's Committee Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy chaired a meeting with the Department of Education and Training about the 2026-2027 academic year junior high school and senior high school admission (10th grade admission).
Also attending were director of the Department of Education and Training, Tran Quang Bao, Leaders of the Department of Education and Training, Representatives from the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mobilization Department, Department of Finance, Department of Culture and Sports, Principals of Thoai Ngoc Hau High School for the gifted, Thu Khoa Nghia High School, Huynh Man Đat High School, Vo Van Kiet Junior High and High School, Principals of Le Quy Đon, Ly Thuong Kiet, and Nguyen Trai Junior High Schools in Long Xuyen ward, Heads of specialized departments of the Department of Education and Training, Members of the English and Math subject councils.
The goal is to improve the overall quality of education at the junior high and high school levels; identify and nurture talented students; and contribute to developing a high-quality workforce for the locality, especially in specialized schools, boarding schools for ethnic minorities, and areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions. Accordingly, the admission process for junior high and high schools must follow the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; ensure fairness, transparency, and objectivity; be adapted to local conditions; and meet students' educational needs. Additionally, effective implementation of post-junior high school career guidance is required.
At the meeting, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, Huynh Van Hoa, presented the draft plan for the 2026-2027 junior high and high school admission. The attendees focused on discussing admission methods, including: Holding one or two exams, Considering student preferences, Multiple-choice or combined multiple-choice and essay exams, Exam schedule...
After hearing the attendees' discussions, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy agreed to hold one exam, to be conducted after evaluating students' attendance records. The exam will consider students' first and second preferences, aiming to minimize stress and ensure a smooth experience for examinees.
Regarding exam subjects, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy agreed that Literature will be essay-based, Math will combine multiple-choice and essay questions, English will be multiple-choice
For student preferences, the process will follow the Ministry of Education and Training's guidelines (Circular No. 621/BGDĐT-GDPT dated August 29, 2026). The exam is expected to take place in late May 2025./.
