(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On August 4th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a plenary session on diplomacy in service of national development in the new era, under the theme "Breakthrough Thinking - Decisive Action - Substantive Results" Politburo member and Prime Minister Le Minh Hung attended and delivered a directive address.

In An Giang Province, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Le Van Phuoc and representatives of local departments and agencies attended the conference via video link.
The plenary session on diplomacy serving national development in the new era focused on the roles of external affairs and economic diplomacy in supporting Vietnam's growth objectives and the transformation of its development model. Discussions centered on strengthening connections between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnam’s overseas representative missions, localities, and businesses to more effectively leverage resources from international cooperation in support of the country's growth goals and development model transformation.
Addressing the conference, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung highly valued the diplomatic sector's comprehensive achievements, particularly its role in maintaining a peaceful environment, leveraging external resources, and elevating the nation's international standing.
To meet the goal of "double-digit" growth and transform the economic model, the Prime Minister has directed the diplomatic sector to radically innovate its mindset and operational methods, shifting from a reactive approach to one that is proactive and constructive. All external relations activities must be result-oriented, yielding concrete outcomes, clear criteria, and substantive effectiveness. Policies must be translated into actionable programs with defined roadmaps, and a system of criteria must be established to evaluate the performance of Vietnam's representative missions abroad. Furthermore, strategic forecasting capabilities must be strengthened, alongside proactive research and advisory work, to identify and address potential threats and risks at an early stage and from a distance.
"Consolidate traditional markets, tap effectively into new ones, and implement high-level commitments. Focus on attracting high-quality foreign direct investment (FDI) tied to advanced technology transfer and workforce training. Build a diplomatic corps with strong political resolve, deep expertise, and comprehensive knowledge of economics, science, technology, foreign languages, and international law. Strengthen synergies to ensure diplomacy serves as a crucial driver for the country's rapid and sustainable development in the new era.
