In his keynote address and guidance at the workshop, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ngo Cong Thuc stated that Vietnam hosting APEC 2027 is an important diplomatic event with strategic significance for the overall development of the country. For Phu Quoc – "Vietnam's Pearl Island" – APEC 2027 is a crucial milestone to elevate its status as a world-class tourist destination. This event is not only an opportunity to showcase unique natural and cultural values, but also a favorable condition to attract high-quality investment resources, serving the goal of sustainable development.

An Giang province has clearly defined its development direction as a parallel approach: focusing on promoting its image while simultaneously fulfilling its responsibility to conserve resources. Attracting investment must be based on the strict preservation of marine and island ecosystems, the protection of the natural environment, and the promotion of traditional cultural values of local communities.

“The development of Phu Quoc will only be truly sustainable when economic goals are implemented in harmony with the requirements of resource protection and social welfare. This is the inevitable path to building Phu Quoc's image as a destination with depth, high competitiveness, and a model for sustainable development in the region,” the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized.

In the coming period, An Giang is committed to its infrastructure modernization roadmap, not only to boost tourism in Phu Quoc but also to develop sustainable marine and island economic models, aiming for international standards in preparation for APEC 2027.

To realize the vision of building Phu Quoc into a destination that is "Economically prosperous, culturally rich, and environmentally exemplary," the leaders of An Giang province are committed to improving the investment environment in a transparent and open manner, creating an open space for pioneering businesses in various fields, especially high-end services and green infrastructure. Simultaneously, preserving traditional cultural values and protecting the natural ecosystem will be key factors in affirming Phu Quoc's unique identity in the process of integration.

At the seminar, Editor-in-Chief of Dai Doan Ket Newspaper, Truong Thanh Trung, stated that in the context of green transformation, digital transformation, and increasingly fierce competition as a destination, Phu Quoc's attractiveness will not only be determined by the scale of investment or the accommodation system, but increasingly depend on the quality of the environment, cultural identity, quality of services, governance capacity, and community consensus.

According to Mr. Truong Thanh Trung, Editor-in-Chief of Dai Doan Ket Newspaper, the workshop will focus on five key areas. Firstly, building a Phu Quoc tourism brand according to international standards, based on core values of environment, culture, service quality, and visitor experience. Secondly, promoting local cultural values as a development resource; making heritage, traditional crafts, cuisine, and the unique identity of the island and its coastal areas into elements that create the destination's unique appeal.

Third, improving the infrastructure, logistics, and services serving APEC in a modern, green, and smart direction; and simultaneously enhance the quality of human resources to meet the requirements of international integration. Fourth, accelerating digital transformation in destination management, tourist flow management, image promotion, and improve urban governance efficiency. Fifth, unlocking development resources through public-private partnerships; strengthening linkages between large corporations and local business communities to form a more widespread and sustainable development ecosystem.

However, the greatest value of APEC will not only lie in the success of a week-long summit, but in its ability to build a foundation for long-term development for the locality.
