Attending the meeting was Mr. Do Duc Hong Ha, Vice Chairman of the Committee on Science, Technology and Environment of the National Assembly. Working with the delegation were Mr. Ngo Cong Thuc, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of An Giang Province, and Ms. Ly Thi Anh Thu, Deputy Head of the Delegation of National Assembly Deputies of An Giang Province, together with leaders of provincial departments, agencies, and the People’s Committee of Phu Quoc Special Zone.

The working delegation focused on supervising the implementation of policies and laws on food safety control, while also inspecting progress and addressing difficulties in key projects serving the APEC 2027 Summit in Phu Quoc Special Zone.

In his remarks, Mr. Ngo Cong Thuc emphasized that the APEC 2027 Summit is a particularly important political and diplomatic mission. To complete the projects 3 to 6 months ahead of schedule as directed by the Central Government, An Giang Province has consistently maintained strong leadership and decisive management, closely adhering to the principle of “Six Clarities” and applying the “Green Channel” mechanism to all dossiers and procedures related to APEC in order to accelerate progress.

All 21 out of 21 key projects under Decision No. 948/QĐ-TTg of the Prime Minister have completed the selection of investors/contractors and are being urgently implemented on site, ensuring the progress set forth up to the present time.

However, due to the urgent nature and the specific construction conditions in the island and coastal areas, the locality is facing certain difficulties and obstacles. To resolve these “bottlenecks,” the People’s Committee of An Giang Province recommends that the Committee on Science, Technology and Environment advise the National Assembly to soon issue a Resolution stipulating special mechanisms and policies to remove difficulties and obstacles for projects serving the APEC 2027 Summit in Phu Quoc Special Zone; at the same time, establish mechanisms to protect officials who dare to think, dare to act, and dare to take responsibility, with the goal of completing the projects on schedule.

At the meeting, the representative of the National Assembly’s working delegation highly appreciated the efforts of An Giang Province in managing food quality, ensuring public health, and preparing safe food supplies for major international events, while also acknowledging the practical recommendations put forward by the locality.

To ensure effective preparation for APEC 2027 events, Mr. Nguyen Phuong Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Committee on Science, Technology and Environment of the National Assembly, requested that An Giang Province and relevant departments focus on implementing food safety measures and standardizing the supply chain. He emphasized the need to actively support and guide production, fresh processing, and service facilities in applying procedures that meet HACCP or ISO 22000 standards.

According to Mr. Nguyen Phuong Tuan, An Giang Province should urgently coordinate with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Science and Technology to integrate all product QR code data into the National Food Safety Monitoring System, ensuring rapid traceability from production to consumption. Mr. Ngo Cong Thuc, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of An Giang Province, stated that the province will urgently coordinate with relevant departments and the People’s Committee of Phu Quoc Special Zone to implement the recommendations of the working delegation. At the same time, An Giang will continue to strengthen inter-sectoral inspections, tighten management of the agricultural and seafood supply chain, particularly protecting the brand of Phu Quoc Fish Sauce, and ensuring absolute food hygiene and safety for delegates and visitors throughout the duration of the APEC 2027 Summit.
