(AG Provincial E-Portal) - In the event of the 19th Session of UNESCO, in Asunción Capital, Paraguay, the working delegation of An Giang province led by comrade Le Hong Quang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, had meeting with Mrs. Maria del Carmen Pérez Falabella, Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Paraguay. The meeting took place in an atmosphere of cooperative partnership and promotion of international exchanges.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Van Anh - Ambassador, Head of the Vietnamese Delegation to UNESCO; Ms. Le Thi Hong Van - Director of the Department of Cultural Diplomacy and UNESCO, Secretary General of the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO, Ministry of Foreign Affairs also attended the meeting.
Ms. Maria del Carmen Pérez Falabella welcomed the An Giang Provincial Delegation to Paraguay to attend the 19th session of UNESCO and expressed her admiration for the cooperative efforts of An Giang in completing the dossier to submit to UNESCO for recognition of the Ba Chua Xu Festival of Sam Mountain as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of humanity, and pledged to support the promotion of the image of Vietnam in general and An Giang in particular to the people of Paraguay.
On behalf of the delegation, Provincial Party Secretary Le Hong Quang expressed his gratitude to Ms. Falabella for her important contributions in connecting, helping the two sides to have a deeper understanding of culture, economy and potential for development cooperation. And although quite busy, she still took the time to meet with An Giang delegation, which further affirmed her role as a bridge between Vietnam and Paraguay, as well as a representative to support and protect Vietnamese citizens here. Provincial Party Secretary Le Hong Quang also introduced the cultural characteristics and local strengths of An Giang, including the Via Ba Chua Xu Festival of Sam Mountain, which is being proposed by UNESCO to be recognized as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
Ms. Maria del Carmen Perez is a highly respected cultural activist and businesswoman in Paraguay, who has held several important positions in the government and has extensive relations with politicians and businesses. Ms. Maria del Carmen has a lot of affection for Vietnam and received the Honorary Consulship of Vietnam in Paraguay on January 17, 2021.
In a friendly atmosphere, Provincial Party Secretary Le Hong Quang presented Ms. Falabella with meaningful gifts, expressing the good feelings that An Giang province has for her.
