In her opening remarks at the conference, Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Huong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation, and Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Giang province, emphasized that commemorating the 80th anniversary of the first General Election to elect the Vietnamese National Assembly is an opportunity for everyone to look back on the past 80 years, especially January 06, 1946, a day that marked a significant milestone in the country's history – the day when the entire Vietnamese people, for the first time, directly cast their votes to elect the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, ushering in a new era with a progressive Constitution, a National Assembly, a unified Government, and a fully legal system of government to represent the Vietnamese people on the international stage.
Currently, An Giang Provincial National Assembly Delegation has 16 delegates, including 7 from the central government and 9 from the local government. During the 2021-2026 term, the Provincial National Assembly Delegation fulfilled its role as a strong "bridge," bringing the voice of the people into the parliament and policies and laws into practical life. The Delegation demonstrated its role as a representative body for the will and aspirations of the people through its participation in deciding on important national issues.
The delegation organized 122 conferences, gathering feedback on 64 important draft laws. At the sessions, delegates voted to approve 148 draft laws and 181 normative legal resolutions, creating a comprehensive legal framework for the country's socio-economic development and international integration.
The Provincial National Assembly Delegation devoted considerable time to researching, discussing, and deciding on many important issues such as: investing in key national projects, managing public debt and the budget; national target programs on building new rural areas and sustainable poverty reduction; issuing policies to safely adapt to and effectively control the COVID-19 pandemic and restore the economy… Particularly noteworthy were the historically significant tasks of reorganizing administrative units, building models of local government organization, and removing institutional and resource bottlenecks.
The oversight activities of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation have made significant progress in both breadth and depth, focusing on pressing issues of concern to voters. Delegates in the Delegation actively participated in five supreme oversight topics of the National Assembly, ranging from planning work to mobilizing resources for COVID-19 prevention and control and national target programs.
In particular, the questioning sessions were conducted with frankness and responsibility. During 45 National Assembly sessions, the delegation conducted 38 direct questioning sessions, 15 written questioning sessions, and 3 debates with the Prime Minister and members of the Government. The questions revolved around areas such as labor, land, agriculture, justice, security and order, and climate change… They also conducted 26 monitoring and survey activities on economic development, education, anti-corruption, and environmental protection at the local level.
During the term, the delegation successfully organized 442 meetings with voters, with the participation of over 34,470 voters. More than 900 opinions and suggestions were recorded, of which over 70% were addressed and responded to in writing by the competent authorities. Nearly 1,500 complaints were received and processed, ensuring 100% of them were resolved definitively according to regulations, without any backlog. This is the foundation for strengthening voters' trust in elected bodies.
Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Huong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation, and Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Giang province, shared that during the 2021-2026 term, continuing to inherit and promote the fine traditions of previous generations of National Assembly deputies, the Provincial National Assembly Delegation has affirmed its position and prestige through practical actions. The harmonious combination of collective intelligence and individual responsibility of each delegate has created a successful term, contributing to creating a new development space for the locality and the country.
The Provincial National Assembly Delegation mobilized organizations, businesses, and philanthropists to contribute a total value of nearly VND 120 billion to build traffic bridges, houses, schools, and provide gifts to disadvantaged families.

Speaking at the conference, An Giang Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Tien Hai expressed his hope that, together with the entire political system, the Provincial National Assembly Delegation will continue to contribute to the rapid and sustainable development of An Giang, making it a dynamic bright spot in the Mekong Delta region. Entering the new term (2026-2031), in the context of the country's continued deep integration and increasingly demanding development requirements, and in the era of the strong rise of the Vietnamese nation, the Provincial National Assembly Delegation will continue to uphold its tradition of unity, courage, and wisdom, constantly innovating its working methods, improving the quality of representation, and proving itself a solid bridge between voters and the National Assembly, and between the central and local governments. The Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Provincial Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front will continue to closely coordinate and create the most favorable conditions for the Provincial National Assembly Delegation to successfully complete its assigned tasks.
On this occasion, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly awarded the "For the Cause of the Vietnamese National Assembly" commemorative medal to 9 civil servants and staff members of the Office of the National Assembly Delegation and the Provincial People's Council of An Giang Province who directly advised and assisted the Provincial National Assembly Delegation.
