An Giang Farmers' Association accompanies farmers in starting businesses, linking production, and building brands

(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On the morning of December 17th, the first Congress of the An Giang Provincial Farmers' Association, for the term 2025-2030, held its solemn session with the participation of 300 outstanding delegates, representing more than 270,000 farmers and association members throughout the province.

In his opening remarks at the Congress, Mr. Nguyen Van Cop, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial Farmers' Association, emphasized that during the past term, the Farmers' Associations at all levels in the province have promoted the spirit of solidarity, innovated the content and methods of operation, and basically completed the goals and tasks set forth in the Congress Resolution.

Political and ideological propaganda and education work has been widely and promptly implemented to all branches and groups of the Association; patriotic emulation movements among farmers continue to spread strongly, attracting a large number of members to participate, bringing practical results, and making a positive contribution to the socio-economic development and sustainable poverty reduction of the province.

Consulting, service, vocational training support, and the development of cooperative economic models have been promoted, contributing to the transformation of the agricultural economic structure, job creation, and improved income and living standards for farmers. The legitimate rights and interests of members and farmers are increasingly being protected and better cared for.

“In the new term, the Farmers' Association at all levels in the province needs to continue to strongly innovate the content and methods of its activities; build a strong organization with practical and effective operations; fulfill its role in representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of farmers; and be a solid bridge between farmers and the Party and the State. At the same time, it should promote the role of farmers as the main actors and the center in agricultural development, rural economy, and the construction of new rural areas; contributing to consolidating the great national unity and the alliance of workers, farmers, and intellectuals,” emphasized Nguyen Van Cop, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial Farmers' Association.

The first Executive Committee of the An Giang Provincial Farmers' Association for the 2025-2030 term was introduced at the congress

The Congress announced the decision of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association appointing the Executive Committee of the An Giang Provincial Farmers' Association, term 2025-2030, consisting of 53 members; and the Standing Committee of 13 members. Mr. Nguyen Van Cop was appointed Chairman of the An Giang Provincial Farmers' Association, term 2025-2030, and the two Vice-Chairmen are Mr. Lam Quoc Toan and Mr. Phan Tung Lam.

The Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association appointed the Inspection Committee of the An Giang Provincial Farmers' Association, term I, 2025-2030, consisting of 7 members. Mr. Phan Tung Lam, Vice Chairman of the City Farmers' Association, serves as the Chairman of the Inspection Committee.

The committee also appointed a delegation to attend the 9th National Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Association, term 2026-2031, consisting of 16 official delegates and 3 alternate delegates.

In his address to the Congress, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association, Luong Quoc Doan, acknowledged and praised the outstanding achievements in the Association's work and the farmers' movement in An Giang province during the past term. He also pointed out difficulties and limitations, such as the difficult living conditions of some farmers, especially in remote and border areas; the quality of rural human resources not meeting the requirements of modern agriculture; small-scale production and weak value chain linkages; limited application of science and technology and digital transformation; the continued occurrence of "bumper harvest - low prices"; and persistent challenges regarding food safety and the environment.

During the 2025-2030 term, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association proposed that the An Giang Provincial Farmers' Association continue to innovate its thinking and operating methods towards professionalism, focusing on farmers, shifting strongly towards support, services, and partnership, and building green rural economic models, digital agriculture, and value chains.

Focusing on building a team of competent and knowledgeable Farmers' Association officials who understand farmers, markets, technology, and digital transformation; promote the application of technology in management and operation; strongly innovate activities to support farmers, truly becoming a "facilitator" in entrepreneurship, production-consumption linkages, brand building, traceability, and e-commerce; promote the role of the Association in building advanced new rural areas, linking emulation movements with a shift in mindset from agricultural production to agricultural economics and sustainable development.

Speaking at the Congress, Comrade Nguyen Tien Hai, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee, affirmed that the achievements of the Farmers' Association at all levels during the past term have made an important contribution to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress and have actively contributed to the socio-economic development of An Giang.

According to the Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee, in the context of the country entering the era of digital transformation, green economy, circular economy, and deep international integration, An Giang farmers must be the main actors and the center of the process of sustainable and modern agricultural development.

To achieve the above objectives, the Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee requested that all levels of the Association quickly adapt to the new organizational model and tasks; strictly implement the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws; and closely follow the leadership of the Party Committee and the higher-level Association. The focus should be on effectively implementing major resolutions of the Central Committee and the Politburo on agriculture, farmers, and rural areas; science and technology; innovation; and digital transformation.

Focusing on training and developing a team of Association officials with strong character, dedication, and skills in mobilizing the masses to meet practical requirements; promote the application of science and technology and digital transformation in Association management and agricultural production; effectively carry out propaganda and mobilization work to encourage farmers to comply with the Party's guidelines and the State's laws, actively participate in emulation campaigns to implement the resolutions of the Provincial and Central Party Committees; strongly promote the role of the Association and farmers in patriotic emulation movements, especially the movement of farmers excelling in production and business; and build a model of "Learning farmers, digital farmers".

Promoting agricultural restructuring linked to the market, building brands, developing cooperative economics and cooperatives; applying high technology, clean, organic, and circular agriculture; developing high-quality OCOP products for consumption and export. The Farmers' Association proactively coordinates with the government, businesses, and relevant agencies to support farmers with capital, technology, legal matters, and markets; effectively promoting the role of the "four stakeholders" linkage to enhance the value, efficiency of production, profits, and sustainable income for farmers.
