Ambassador of the United States to Viet Nam paid a courtesy visit to the leaders of An Giang province

Mr. Marc E. Knapper, Ambassador of the United States to Viet Nam for a visit and courtesy call.

Mr. Ho Van Mung, Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee, presented a gift to H.E. Mr. Marc E. Knapper, Ambassador of the United States of America to Viet Nam

At the meeting, Mr. Ho Van Mung, Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee, thanked Ambassador Marc E. Knapper for his great contributions to the diplomatic relationship between Viet Nam and the United States.

Briefly introducing An Giang province to Ambassador Marc E. Knapper, Mr. Ho Van Mung, Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee said that An Giang is one of the provinces in the Mekong Delta with an area of over 3,500 km2, the most populous locality in the Mekong Delta. Regarding the economic structure, the sectors of service, agriculture and industry account for about 45%, 35% and 15%, respectively. An Giang has strengths in many fields, such as: Agriculture, tourism, industry... In particular, the border gate economy is a great strength of the province with nearly 100 km of border adjacent to the Kingdom of Cambodia. In addition, An Giang province and the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City regularly exchange work with each other on many issues, such as: Anti-human trafficking, religious freedom and human rights.

Mr. Ho Van Mung, Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee, respectfully thanked Ambassador Marc E. Knapper and the U.S. Government for supporting An Giang province with scholarships in English and master's and doctoral training programs in the United States. At the same time, the chairman hoped that in the future, regardless of his position, Ambassador Marc E. Knapper would continue to foster the comprehensive strategic partnership between Viet Nam and the United States. Mr. Ho Van Mung proposed that the United States would continue to support and soon recognize Vietnam's market economy. In addition, information would be introduced to US businesses, investors, and localities to promote investment and cooperation in the strengths of An Giang province.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, Mr. Ho Van Mung, Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee, thanked Ambassador Marc E. Knapper for visiting An Giang province. He proposed that the Ambassador would be a bridge for the people of the two countries to continue to foster the comprehensive strategic partnership between Viet Nam and the United States to be increasingly sustainable.
